Specimen Requirements

Patient must be wearing an identification bracelet. All specimens must be completely labeled in accordance with AABB requirements. Refer to “Blood Bank Specimens” under the Resources section.

Specimen Type: Whole blood

Container/Tube: Lavender or Pink Top EDTA

Specimen Volume: 6 mL

Specimen Minimum Volume: 1 Microtainer

Additional Information: List patient’s medications and indicate if patient has had a previous transfusion. Refer to "Blood Bank Request Form" under the Resources section.
