Specimen Requirements

Specimen Type: Whole blood

Container/Tube: Lavender top (EDTA) or plain, red top

Specimen Volume: 7 mL

Collection Instructions:

1. Invert several times to mix blood.

2. Plasma or serum gel tube is not acceptable.

Additional Information:

1. Patient must be wearing an identification bracelet.

2. All specimens must be completely labeled in accordance with AABB requirements.
