Specimen Requirements

Remarks: 

Fasting 8 hours is recommended.

Submit only 1 of the following specimens:

Specimen Type: Plasma

Container/Tube: Green top (lithium heparin)

Specimen Volume: 0.5 mL

Collection Instructions: Protect specimen from light within 4 hours of collection.

Additional Information: Label specimen appropriately (plasma).

Specimen Type: Serum

Container/Tube: Serum gel

Specimen Volume: 0.5 mL

Collection Instructions: Protect specimen from light within 4 hours of collection.

Additional Information: Label specimen appropriately (serum).

NOTE: Only good for 2 hours once uncapped and left open.  Aliquot and promptly cap specimen.
