Specimen Requirements
Container/Tube Type:
Sterile Container
Collection Information:
Collect urine in a sterile, leak-proof container.
Transport Information:
Transport 10.0 mL urine in the original sterile, leak-proof container, when possible. Send refrigerated.
Minimum Sample Volume:
2.0 mL of urine
Unacceptable Conditions:
Samples that are ambiguously labeled, unsealed, or fail the temperature or chemical checks will be rejected and must be recollected.
Stability Comments:
Samples should be sent refrigerated with priority to arrive within 24 - 48 hours of collection.

Refrigerated Stability:
5 days - Preferred
If sample cannot be delivered to Pathology Laboratory within 5 days, freeze sample.
Frozen Stability:
Indefinitely
