Remarks: 

First morning voidings are preferred for this test, but 24-hour samples may also be submitted. A pathologist makes an interpretive report after reviewing the protein pattern. This test may be followed by immunofixation if so indicated by the pathologist. This test will be done first if a urine immunofixation or urine Immunoelectrophoresis test is ordered.

 

Unacceptable Conditions: 

Inadequate sample volumes will be rejected at the discretion of the laboratory.
