Specimen Requirements

Specimen Type:  Blood from patient and 3 Segments/pigtails from EACH suspected unit

Container/Tube: 1 Red Top and 1 EDTA

Specimen Volume: 7ml for EACH tube

 Collection Instructions: Label tube with patient’s name, first, last, middle initial, medical record or identification number, date of birth and/or Social Security Number, and date and time of collection

1. Patient must be wearing an identification bracelet.

2. All specimens must be completely labeled in accordance with AABB requirements.
