Specimen Requirements
Sodium citrate and EDTA whole blood are required unless a CBC is also collected within 24 hours. Please send CBC results and a list of medications patient is taking.
Specimens must arrive within 4 hours of draw.
Specimen Type: Whole blood, sodium citrate
Container/Tube: 2.7-mL, light blue top (sodium citrate)
(5.4mL total volume needed for testing. Can draw 3 short draw light blue top (sodium citrate) tubes.)
Specimen Volume: 2 full tubes
Collection Instructions:
1. Tube must be filled to the etched line of the tube - NO SHORT DRAW.
2. Send in original tubes.
3. Hemolyzed specimen is not acceptable.

Rejection Criteria
Reason for not performing test: Testing is not performed due to low hematocrit and/or low platelet counts. The results are invalid for hematocrits below (<) 35% and platelet counts less thean (<) 150,000 on this assay. if concern for a platelet function defect persist consider retesting after normalization of hematocrit and/or platelet count.
