Specimen Requirements

Patient must be wearing an identification bracelet. All specimens must be completely labeled in accordance with AABB requirements. Refer to “Blood Bank Specimens” under the Resources section.

Specimen Type: Whole blood

Container/Tube: Lavender or Pink Top (EDTA) Microtainer

Specimen Volume: 500 microliters

Collection Instructions:

1. Fill to top line.

2. Invert several times to mix blood.
