Specimen Requirements

Collect

Serum separator tube (SST), red top tube

 

Specimen Preparation

Separate from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection. Transfer 4 mL to ARUP standard transport tube. (Min: 3 mL)

 

Unacceptable Conditions

Hemolyzed, hyperlipemic, icteric, heat-treated, or contaminated specimens.

Stability

Refrigerated.

 

Ambient: 48 hours

Refrigerated: 2 weeks (Preferred)

Frozen: 1 month
