Preferred Collection Container:
SST (Serum Separator)
Light Green (Lithium Heparin Plasma Separator Tube)
Also Acceptable Collection Container:
Red (No Additive)
Green No Gel (Lithium Heparin)
Collection Information:
Collect blood in a SST (Serum Separator) or Light Green (Lithium Heparin Plasma Separator Tube). Red (No Additive) and Green No Gel (Lithium Heparin) are also acceptable.
Transport Information:
Centrifuge and aliquot 1.0 mL into a plastic transport vial. Send refrigerated.
Minimum Sample Volume:
0.5 mL of serum or plasma (approximately 1.0 mL of whole blood based upon a normal patient hematocrit)
Remarks:
All positive and equivocal specimens will be reflexed to the Lyme Confirmation [epic LAB3732/SQ LYMECP]
