Specimen Requirements

Container/Tube Type: 

Red (No Additive)
SST (Serum Separator)
Green (Lithium Heparin)
PST (Plasma Separator)

Also Acceptable Collection Container: 

Lavender (EDTA)

Collection Information: 

Collect 3-5 mL of blood in a serum or plasma collection tube.  Centrifuge as soon as possible, remove serum/plasma from cells and refrigerate or freeze specimen.

Minimum Sample Volume: 

0.3 mL of serum (approximately 0.6 mL of whole blood based upon normal patient hematocrit)
