Specimen Requirements

Container/Tube Type: 

Sterile Container
Sterile Swab w/Transport Medium (Amies, Stuarts)

Collection Information: 

Urine, Throat, Oral Cavity, Vaginal or Rectal/Sterile Container.

Transport Information: 

Aseptic technique must be used in obtaining, and transport of specimen. See specimen collection guidelines.

Remarks: 

Identification and susceptibility tests are billed separately from culture.

Unacceptable Conditions: 

Specimen received is a dry swab, in a non-sterile or leaking container.
