Specimen Requirements

Container/Tube Type: 

Lavender (EDTA)

Collection Information: 

Collect blood in a lavender EDTA tube.

Transport Information: 

Centrifuge and submit 2.0 mL of EDTA plasma refrigerated in a plastic transport vial.

Minimum Sample Volume: 

0.8 mL of plasma (approximately 1.5 mL of whole blood based upon a normal patient hematocrit)

Stability Comments: 

Centrifuge within whole blood within 24 hours of collection. Whole blood is stable for 24 hours at room temperature.
