Specimen Requirements

Container/Tube Type: 

Lavender (EDTA)

Collection Information: 

Collect blood in a lavender EDTA tube

Transport Information: 

Centrifuge and transfer 2.0 mL of EDTA plasma into a transport vial. 

Minimum Sample Volume: 

0.5 mL of plasma (approximately 1.0 mL of whole blood based upon normal patient's hematocrit)

Stability Comments: 

Centrifuge within whole blood within 24 hours of collection. Whole blood is stable for 24 hours at room temperature.
