Specimen Requirements
Preferred Collection Container:
Lavender (EDTA)
Also Acceptable Collection Container:
Yellow (ACD-A or ACD-B)
Pink (K2EDTA)
Collection Information:
Collect blood in a lavender (EDTA) tube. Yellow ACD A or B and Pink (EDTA) is also acceptable.
Transport Information:
Transport original tube at room temperature. A separate EDTA (lavender-top) tube must be submitted for all HLA testing. If submitted with any other test requiring an EDTA tube, please submit a separate tube for this test. Do not open tube.
Minimum Sample Volume:
3.0 mL of whole blood
Remarks:
If possible, avoid collecting on Fridays. To ensure that specimen can be processed prior to the 4-day stability, it’s preferred that collections and submissions occur to arrive at Pathology Laboratory Monday through Thursday.
