Specimen Requirements

Container/Tube Type: 

Red (No Additive)
SST (Serum Separator)

Collection Information: 

Collect 4.0 - 5.0 mL of blood. Allow blood to clot at room temperature, and transfer 1.5 mL of serum to a transport vial as soon as possible.

Transport Information: 

4.0 mL blood/1.5 mL serum.

Minimum Sample Volume: 

2.5 mL blood/1.0 mL serum

Remarks: 

ANA samples are screened at a titer of 1:40. All samples that are positive are titered and the titer and pattern will be reported. All positives include a Pathologist's interpretation.

Unacceptable Conditions: 

Plasma, gross hemolysis, icterus, lipemia, bacterial growth.
