Specimen Requirements

EDTA and plain whole blood are required.

Specimen Type: Whole blood
Container/Tube: 7-mL lavender top (EDTA) and 7-mL, plain red top

Specimen Volume: 7 mL in each tube

Collection Instructions:

1. Invert several times to mix blood.

2. Do not centrifuge.

3. Plasma or serum gel tube is not acceptable.

Additional Information:

1. Patient must be wearing an identification bracelet.

2. All specimens must be completely labeled in accordance with AABB requirements.
