Specimen Requirements

Patient must be wearing an identification bracelet. All specimens must be completely labeled in accordance with AABB requirements. Refer to “Blood Bank Specimens” under the Resources section.

EDTA and serum are required.

Specimen Type: Whole blood

Container/Tube: Lavender or Pink Top (EDTA) and Red Top.

Specimen Volume: 12 mL EDTA and 6 mL serum

Collection Instructions:

1. Invert several times to mix blood.
