Important Note

Only available to UNMC patients. 

MUST be drawn before 11am Monday through Thursday so it can be sent out the same day.  CANNOT be drawn on Friday as it will be rejected.  Refer to sendouts for Holiday draws. 

CBC results must be ordered and sent from the same day.

Specimen Requirements

5 mL EDTA ( Lavendar ) Whole Blood (3 mL minimun)

 

Must send CBC result with sample from the same day.

Will accept up to within 48 hours if there is a CBC result performed on a specimen collected the same time as the specimen.

Rejection Criteria

The specimen will be considered unacceptable if it is refrigerated, clotted, hemalyzed, centrifuged, received in the lab over 48 hours from collection, or no CBC results performed on a specimen collected the same time as the specimen for the assay.

The tube may be shared with other tests.
